Larry
Bloch opened Save The Corporations from Themselves in 1997.
He came to Brattleboro from New York City, where he founded the Wetlands
Preserve, a full-time live music night club and environmental and social
justice activism center. Wetlands Preserve is where Larry created the
model of a for-profit business that would be efficient and effective
at “making the world a better place” by:
- doing the work
of activism yourself
- adequately funding it as an overhead expense not
tied to profit.
Following the same model, Save the Corporations from Themselves is
combining a for-profit business with a mission of educating and activating
people to create a better world for all.
Ian Kiehle has been store manager at Save the Corporations from Themselves
since 2002. He is Brattleboro-born and -raised and lives in town with
his wife and daughter. Ian is part of what makes Save the Corporations
a good meeting place as well as a good store. Stop in and talk to Ian
about hemp, politics or other issues of the day!
